PEMF 101

PEMF stands for Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy. There are two (2) types of PEMF machines:

• High Powered PEMF machines which create pulses the user immediately feels (in accordance with how much they wish to feel it). These are Ringers in the description below and range up to 20000 Gauss (the power rating).
• Low Powered PEMF (usually mats) which ironically do not pulse and which most people do not feel. These are Hummers in the description below and are typically less than 1000 Gauss.

There are two types of High Powered PEMF machines:

• Spark Chamber – in which the pulse is created by a spark chamber. Spark Chamber PEMF machines deliver an energy users often describe as: starting deep in the cell and radiating outward.
• Digital – in which the pulse is created by a computer. Digital PEMF devices are often described as: starting externally and tapping their way into the body.

Clinics with (both) Spark Chamber and Digital PEMF machines typically use their Spark Chamber Machine to introduce PEMF to new patients – because of this “first impression” difference.

Since most people are unfamiliar with Gauss ratings we often make the comparison to motor vehicles.
